  • A girl from Dubrovnik was shot dead by a sniper on one bridge and her body lay stretched  out on sarajevo's scummy shallow river.
  • There is a war
  • It was the first victim
  • Snipers hiding in the Holiday Inn.
  • The narrator and the mother gasped when the girl fell and called the aunt in panic.
  • They are afraid
  • An explosion shook the city some days ago. 
  • There was smoke in the north of the city.
  • People are in huddles
  • Her friend is leaving town.
  • There is a very strong storm.
  • There is a bombing on the bar. 
  • They are driven out of the city in a police car, by a police woman, friend of her mother.
  • They are staying as refugees.
  • The aunt had been found injured.
  • Her spine cracked in 3 parts.
  • She died
  • They move to the Grandmother's house in a small Herzegovinian village.

People looked around, confused.
People screamed, the ground agitated, everyone ran in various directions.
On that special day.
Leaving behind a noisy explosion.
Two days after the city was surrounded
